Over the last few months, even years, I have had to listen to many Republicans saying that they belong to the Party of Lincoln, taking great pride in the fact that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. However, I believe it is unfortunate, and speaks of their ignorance, that they believe that President Lincoln held the beliefs of the current Republican Party. I ask myself: If Abraham Lincoln was involved in the Republican primary in the modern day, campaigning on issues that he had done throughout his political career in the 1840's-1860's, would he capture the nomination? I not only believe not, but not a chance in high heaven. I am not saying that Lincoln was a "democrat", rather that the GOP would never nominate him.
Let me explain with a few basic facts and one assumption.
